Splashtacular Receives 2021 Leading Edge Award

The Board of Directors of the World Waterpark Association honored Splashtacular with the 2021 Leading Edge Award for their work on Garden Rapids at the Big Pool in Garden City, KS

PAOLA, KS, Nov. 2, 2021 – Splashtacular, LLC, the largest waterslide manufacturer based in the U.S., announced that it has been awarded the 2021 Leading Edge Award from the World Waterpark Association. This award was presented to Splashtacular at the World Waterpark Association Show, held in San Antonio, TX, for their work on the Garden Rapids at the Big Pool project in Garden City, KS.

The Leading Edge Award is one of the top honors that you can receive from the World Waterpark Association. It recognizes suppliers who have “developed new concepts, products or services to the benefit of park members, their customers and the water attractions industry.” For their contribution to the overall project, Splashtacular provided the aquatic play unit and the interactive spray features. They also designed one of the first SlipStream™ standup waterslides that were installed in the U.S., and they provided two of the first municipally owned FlyTyme™ launch slides.

“The Splashtacular team was honored to be a part of ‘The Big Pool’ revitalization project,” said Alex Weidman, President of Splashtacular. “We took an ailing, nearly 100-year-old pool once known as the ‘World’s Largest Outdoor Concrete Municipal Swimming Pool,’ and helped transform it back into a vibrant family attraction. It still maintains some of the charms of the original site, but it operates more efficiently than ever before, it appeals to people of all ages, and the thrill-seekers are definitely enjoying the SlipStream™ and FlyTyme™ waterslides.”

Residents of Garden City, Commissioners and staff came together on a tough issue and executed a solution in 28 months. Had it not been for wonderful partners on this project such as Splashtacular, the transformation would not have been as enjoyable and seamless.”

Splashtacular has received multiple awards throughout the years from the World Waterpark Association. As a global provider of waterslides, aquatic play units and interactive spray features, Splashtacular has been recognized with the Industry Innovation Award, the Best of Show Award along other Leading Edge awards for their contributions to the waterpark industry.
